An established manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team based in Macclesfield.
You will play a vital role in keeping a busy manufacturing site running safely and efficiently—responding to breakdowns, completing planned maintenance and supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key responsibilities:
- Respond to machinery breakdowns and minimise production downtime
- Complete planned preventative maintenance, statutory checks and site inspections
- Prioritise workloads alongside the Engineering Team Leader
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults quickly and effectively
- Complete accurate end-of-shift reports, recording completed work and outstanding issues
- Manage contractors on site, including inductions, permits and safe working procedures
- Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies
- Apply permit-to-work and isolation procedures when required
- Support engineering and wider site-improvement projects
- Provide additional emergency-hours cover when required
About you:
- Experienced in breakdown maintenance within a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills
- Able to fault-find using mechanical and electrical drawings
- Good understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Computer literate and confident completing digital maintenance reports
- Qualified to ONC level in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Practical, safety-conscious and able to remain calm under pressure
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a skilled engineering team
- Knowledge of PLC fault-finding, machining, welding or pipe fitting would be an advantage
- First Aid training or a forklift/scissor-lift licence would also be desirable, although not essential
