Job Type: Full-time - 7:30am - 4:30pm (Early finish Friday)

We are recruiting for a highly organised and experienced Transport Manager to join a busy and fast‑paced operation. This is a hands‑on management role requiring someone who is proactive, switched on, and able to take full control of the transport function while leading a small team effectively. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing daily transport operations, tracking company traffic and orders, managing spreadsheets and reporting, and ensuring the department runs efficiently at all times. This role would suit a strong leader who is confident stepping into all aspects of transport management and capable of making quick, effective operational decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the day‑to‑day transport operation
  • Lead, motivate, and support a small transport team
  • Plan and coordinate vehicle movements, routes, and schedules efficiently
  • Monitor company traffic, deliveries, and order movements in real time
  • Ensure all transport operations run smoothly and cost effectively
  • Maintain accurate transport records, spreadsheets, and reporting systems
  • Use Excel and transport data systems confidently to track KPIs and operational performance
  • Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, customers, and management daily
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, and company procedures
  • Manage issues proactively including delays, shortages, and operational challenges
  • Support continuous improvement across the transport department
  • Step into operational duties when required and lead from the front

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a Transport Manager or Senior Transport role
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills
  • Excellent knowledge of transport operations and logistics processes
  • Advanced understanding of Excel, spreadsheets, and reporting systems
  • Ability to work within a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities
  • Highly proactive, hands‑on, and operationally minded
  • Ability to take ownership and make effective decisions under pressure
  • CPC qualification preferred but not essential depending on experience
