The Role
We are looking for an experienced Line Leader to join a busy food manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing production on your allocated line, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. You will lead, support and develop your team through training, coaching and mentoring, while leading by example and promoting a positive, proactive working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of production operatives on an allocated production line.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are consistently achieved.
- Monitor team performance, productivity and production efficiency.
- Ensure work is completed correctly and to the required specifications.
- Be competent in the safe operation and working knowledge of production machinery and equipment.
- Delegate tasks effectively to appropriate team members.
- Provide training, coaching and support to production operatives.
- Lead by example and promote positive working behaviours.
- Communicate company procedures, processes and changes clearly to the production team.
- Ensure all Health & Safety and food hygiene procedures are followed at all times.
- Maintain high standards of quality, hygiene, housekeeping and production.
- Identify issues and take appropriate corrective action.
- Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality and other departments across the business.
- Attend and contribute to production meetings and daily team briefings.
- Respond flexibly to changing production schedules, customer requirements and operational demands.
- Support receipt and dispatch requirements when required.
- Make constructive suggestions for improving production processes and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate standards and ensure company procedures are consistently followed.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team, or demonstrable leadership experience.
- Previous food manufacturing or food processing experience is essential.
- Level 2 Food Safety and Health & Safety qualifications preferred/required.
- A positive attitude with a genuine drive to achieve results.
- A proactive 'can-do' attitude.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to treat colleagues with respect and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
- A professional, approachable and supportive manner.
