We are recruiting a committed individual to join our team as a Driver/Porter. As a Driver/Porter at Pickfords, you will play a vital role in the seamless execution of daily delivery and collection tasks of customer removals, while upholding our high standards of service. You will work closely with our operations team, assisting in various areas including stores and general housekeeping duties. Your main responsibility will be to deliver high-quality service that meets the required standards of Pickfords.

As the ideal candidate, you will need a diverse skill set essential for this role. Holding a full car driving license up to 3.5t, you will demonstrate excellent customer service skills and exhibit a keen awareness of health and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of yourself, your colleagues, and our customers. Your role will involve overseeing the safe and efficient completion of relocation tasks, providing support during office moves, and conducting point of work risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards. Your ability to diligently follow daily job instructions, maintain accurate records, and promptly communicate any pertinent information to the operations department will be critical to the success of our operations.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Operate vehicle tail lifts and carry out basic furniture maintenance and assembly/disassembly of flat pack furniture
  • Perform daily vehicle checks in accordance with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency)
  • Ensure vehicle is in a safe condition for use by conducting walk-around vehicle checks
  • Comply with traffic laws and legislation
  • Follow safe loading procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and update job paperwork
  • Maintain a professional image and adhere to Pickfords' policies and standards
  • Attend training courses to enhance service delivery and improve our operations
