About The Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Clerk to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with payroll experience to play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while working closely with Finance, HR and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time
  • Maintain payroll records using Sage Payroll 50, Sage HR, and People HR
  • Check and validate timesheets, overtime, and additional payments
  • Manage starters, leavers, salary changes, and statutory payments (e.g. maternity, sickness)
  • Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare and export payroll data using Excel
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation
  • Handle employee queries regarding payslips, tax codes, pensions, and deductions
  • Process third-party payments (e.g. HMRC and other deductions)
  • Support statutory submissions including RTI and pensions
  • Assist with year-end processes (P60s, P11Ds)
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and GDPR compliance
  • Support audits and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and management teams

About You

  • Has proven experience in payroll processing
  • Has strong knowledge of PAYE and statutory payroll requirements
  • Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Can work independently and as part of a team
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to meet tight deadlines

Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Sage 50 Payroll (desirable)
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with payroll systems and reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
