We are looking for a Lift Field Support Engineer to join our team covering the North of the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a well-established company that values expertise, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with a variety of lift types and controller manufacturers, demonstrating strong fault-finding ability while having a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs. To be considered for this position, an NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in a lift discipline is essential.   • Technical Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Perform advanced fault diagnosis on lifts and escalators, covering electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Provide remote and on-site support to field engineers with complex breakdowns and recurring technical issues.
  • Support & Guidance: Offer mentoring, technical advice, and on-the-job training to service engineers. Work collaboratively with engineering and product support teams to deliver updates and implement technical modifications.
  • Performance & Reliability: Analyse recurring faults and recommend preventive actions or system upgrades to improve reliability and minimise downtime. Assist in investigating and resolving high-impact or safety-related incidents.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all work aligns with company Health & Safety policies, lift and escalator regulations, and relevant standards (e.g. EN81, LOLER). Complete detailed diagnostic and technical reports following each site visit.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with customers, Regional Managers, and technical teams to provide clear, professional updates on progress and root cause findings. Represent the company as a trusted technical expert within the region.

Person specification

  • Industry Qualification: Qualified Lift and/or Escalator Engineer (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Lift/Escalator Engineering).
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in field service or technical support roles within the lift and escalator industry, with a strong record of fault resolution.
  • Technical Expertise: Excellent electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills with a deep understanding of control systems, drives, and safety circuits.
  • Analytical Skills: Confident in interpreting electrical schematics, technical documentation, and data to diagnose and resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Independent & Organised: Able to work autonomously, managing priorities effectively across multiple sites while maintaining high standards of accuracy and safety.
  • Communication & Mentoring: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide clear technical guidance and mentoring to engineers at various skill levels.
  • System Knowledge: Experience with multiple manufacturer systems, including Otis, KONE, Schindler, and Thyssenkrupp.
  • Additional Skills: Beneficial qualifications in electronics, PLCs, or diagnostic systems, as well as experience in data analysis or reliability engineering.
  • Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence (essential).
