Building on our expertise in temporary accommodation, we are expanding our permanent modular building offering and are seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive growth within this key area of the business.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new opportunities for complaint modular building solutions across a range of sectors.
Working with developers, contractors, education providers, healthcare organisations, local authorities and commercial businesses, you will build relationships with key decision-makers, influence projects at an early stage and convert opportunities into profitable sales.
You will work closely with our Design, Estimating and Project Delivery teams to develop innovative modular solutions that meet customer requirements and deliver exceptional value.
Your responsibilities will include
- Identifying and securing new business opportunities for permanent modular building solutions.
- Developing relationships with architects, consultants, developers, main contractors, local authorities and end users.
- Generating project opportunities through networking, market intelligence and proactive business development.
- Engaging with customers early in the project lifecycle to influence specifications and position Pickerings Hire as the preferred delivery partner.
- Preparing and presenting compelling proposals, quotations and tender submissions.
- Working collaboratively with internal design, estimating and operational teams to develop commercially competitive solutions.
- Managing opportunities from initial enquiry through to contract award and project handover.
- Maintaining an accurate sales pipeline and delivering against agreed sales and profitability targets.
- Representing Pickerings Hire at industry events, exhibitions and customer meetings to raise brand awareness and generate new opportunities.
About You
We're looking for a highly motivated business development professional with experience selling compliant modular buildings solutions.
You will have
- A proven track record of winning new business and delivering sustainable sales growth.
- Experience selling compliant modular buildings, MMC solutions or related construction products.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience working with developers, contractors, architects, consultants and public sector organisations.
- An excellent understanding of the construction project lifecycle and procurement routes.
- Strong presentation and proposal-writing skills.
- A proactive and consultative approach to business development.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.
Above all, you'll be ambitious, commercially focused and passionate about developing long-term customer relationships while delivering innovative modular building solutions.
