We are currently seeking an experienced Test Engineer to join our Production Test Department, reporting to the Test Team Leader. This role is responsible for the validation, verification, and recording of test data across a wide range of PCBAs, embedded systems, and finished electronic products. The successful candidate will execute formal test procedures, carry out fault finding and component-level debugging, produce detailed technical reports, and maintain test records in line with ISO 9001 standards. The role also involves creating and operating ATE programs, supporting new product validation, and collaborating closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to resolve product issues and improve overall build quality.
We are looking for a candidate with a higher-level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (HNC/HND/ONC or equivalent) and 3–5 years’ experience in electronic test within a manufacturing or R&D environment. Experience with RF and microwave testing, industry standards (ISO 9001, IPC), and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential. The ideal candidate will be organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
The Test Engineer role requires the validation, verification & recording of test data on our extensive range of products and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities- Execute formal test procedures on PCBAs, embedded systems, and finished products, ensuring compliance within specifications.
- Diagnose, analyse, and repair failures down to component level.
- Produce detailed reports of the faults found to aid in the continued improvement of Pickering’s products.
- Maintain test records & results in accordance with ISO 9001 and internal procedures.
- Create programs and operate ATE.
- Provide feedback to the team leader on overall build quality.
- Work closely with the Test Team Leader to define production test requirements and validate Pickering’s new products and components.
- Collaborate with the Test Team Leader, R&D, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve product issues.
- Develop a deep understanding of Pickering’s products and systems.
- Higher level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electronics (e.g., HNC, HND, ONC or equivalent).
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in electronic test within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Demonstrated experience in electronic test within a manufacturing and/or R&D environment.
- Experience of electronic test methodologies, test equipment, and diagnostic tools.
- Experience in RF and microwave testing.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and IPC standards.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while meeting demanding deadlines.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Organised, disciplined, and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
