PIB Group is a fast-growing, specialist insurance intermediary and distribution consolidator. We're looking for a Group Technical Accounting Manager to lead and coordinate technical accounting matters across the Group, providing subject-matter expertise on complex accounting areas, supporting high-quality Group and holding company financial reporting, and acting as a key point of contact for auditors and advisers on technical issues. This role reports directly to the Group Head of Financial Reporting.

Location: Preferably East Midlands or London-based, but we'd welcome regional candidates who are open to travel.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own the Group's technical accounting policies (IFRS and relevant UK GAAP/Companies Act requirements), ensuring consistent application across entities, and prepare technical papers for management, auditors and the Board on complex or judgemental areas.
  • Lead acquisition accounting for business combinations (intangibles, contingent consideration, goodwill) and advise on Group restructurings, legal entity rationalisations and intra-group transfers, including common-control and capital reorganisation transactions.
  • Own the effective interest rate (EIR) models for Group debt — including debt modifications, PIK options and other complex terms — and oversee accounting for intercompany loans and balances, including alignment with Treasury systems (e.g. Kyriba) and automation of interest calculations.
  • Oversee the Group's foreign exchange accounting (functional currency assessments, translation of foreign operations, FX hedge accounting) and IFRS 16 lease models and processes, including use of CCH Tagetik or similar tools.
  • Own the accounting for share-based payment schemes under IFRS 2 (management incentive plans, options, equity/cash-settled awards), ensuring appropriate charge recognition and clear disclosure of schemes, assumptions and sensitivities.
  • Lead the Group's implementation of IFRS 18 — impact assessment, policy development and changes to primary statements and notes — and support preparation and review of Group and holding company statutory financial statements.

What we're looking for:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with strong post-qualification experience in technical accounting, ideally from a large practice (audit/technical advisory) and/or a complex, multi-entity Group environment.
  • Deep, hands-on experience in several of: business combinations and acquisition accounting; complex debt and EIR calculations; FX and consolidation of international operations; share-based payments (IFRS 2) and IFRS 16 leasing; Group restructurings and intra-group transactions.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and UK Companies Act requirements; exposure to UK GAAP/FRC guidance is a plus.
  • Proven experience working directly with auditors and external advisers on complex transactions and models.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple complex workstreams under tight deadlines.
  • Strong communicator who can explain technical issues clearly to non-specialists, prepare concise technical papers, and collaborate across Group finance, treasury, tax, legal and local finance teams.
