The Head of Applications and Development is a senior leadership role accountable for PIB’s growing global application estate. Reporting directly to the Group CIO, the role defines and delivers PIB’s application strategy, balancing operational resilience, compliance and security with innovation, scalability and value creation. You will lead both the application shared services function and the application development function, ensuring alignment to PIB’s technology strategy. This role is critical in integrating acquired businesses, embedding consistent governance frameworks, and ensuring PIB’s application landscape enables growth and digital transformation. You will also provide board‑level insight on performance and resilience, and lead distributed teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Set and govern the application strategy; provide board‑level performance and risk reporting.
Ensure service excellence: SLAs/KPIs, ITIL practices, resilience, and “security by design.”
Drive modern engineering: Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, cloud‑native.
Lead integration and consolidation across CRM, policy/claims, finance and digital platforms.
Build high‑performing teams and manage key vendors for value, quality and compliance.
What We’re Looking For
Senior IT leader (Head/Director) in complex, multi‑site environments.
Proven in both application services and application development.
Strong post‑M&A integration, rationalisation and migration delivery.
Deep ITIL and Agile expertise; solid grasp of GDPR/FCA and security.
Stakeholder influence at ExCo/Board level; vendor and global team leadership.
