Morton Michel, the UK’s leading childcare insurance specialist and part of PIB Group, are growing and looking for an experienced Underwriter to join the team in Croydon. This role would suit someone with commercial package underwriting experience.

You will be comfortable liaising with Insurers and internal team members, dealing with various enquiries for a wide range of childcare specialist products whilst ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines under Delegated Authority schemes and disciplines. You will have good administration and communication skills with the ability to develop business relationships. You will also be responsible for conducting monthly internal technical audits.

Ideally, we would like someone with a customer focussed approach to underwriting, who is interested in learning all about the Childcare Sector and will take an important role in relationships with our partner associations within this industry. From time to time this could include working at Childcare based events.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will be dealing with renewals in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority guidelines.
  • You will underwrite / generate terms ensuring they are presented in a timely manner.
  • You will deal with colleague’s queries face to face, via teams/ phone and emails within agreed SLA’s.
  • You will approach insurers with referrals on scenarios that are outside of our Delegated Authority in terms of pricing, coverage and policy conditions.
  • From time to time you will attend events aimed at the Childcare sector and take a collaborative approach to working with our partner associations.

What we’re looking for:

  • You will have appropriate previous insurance underwriting experience.
  • You will ideally be qualified Cert CII or working towards.
  • You will have experience of working within a regulated FCA environment (essential).
  • You will be able to understand and implement ‘best practice’ in customer service, compliance systems and processes, and financial management.
  • You will have good experience using bespoke systems and MS Office Suite preferably including Acturis.
