At PIB group, our PIB Risk Management team is keen to recruit an experienced Senior Principal CDM Designer.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Principal Designer and CDM adviser to clients across a range of projects.
- Guide clients, designers and project teams to ensure compliance with CDM 2015 and good practice.
- Review design information, identify foreseeable health and safety risks and influence design decisions at an early stage.
- Prepare, manage and maintain all CDM-related documentation including F10 notifications and pre-construction information.
- Undertake design risk reviews and structured assessments and provide clear practical advice.
- Review construction phase plans and RAMS, giving focused feedback to clients and contractors where improvements are required.
- Carry out site-based health and safety inspections and audits, producing concise actionable reports.
- Coordinate and compile health and safety files and ensure they are issued in an accurate and timely manner at project completion.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge through CPD and relevant professional memberships.
- Contribute to internal team meetings, workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions supporting the development of colleagues.
What we're looking for:
- Someone who is proactive, credible and comfortable taking ownership.
- Confidence in challenging assumptions, influencing project teams and helping to deliver safer projects.
- Significant experience (typically 5 years) in construction health and safety, CDM or related roles.
- CMaPS or CMIOSH/CMIOSH (or actively working towards an equivalent professional status).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to lead discussions with clients, designers and contractors.
- A practical solutions-focused approach with the ability to balance compliance with commercial and programme realities.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage your own workload and deadlines while contributing positively to a wider team.
