Q Underwriting part of PIB Group brings together multiple specialist underwriting brands with deep heritage in their niches, offering over 30 in‑house underwritten, A‑rated commercial products that brokers can trade seamlessly. The role involves underwriting a portfolio of commercial insurance risks in line with Q Underwriting’s strategy, risk appetite and authority levels, delivering profitable growth through high‑quality risk selection, technical underwriting and excellent broker relationships while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, price and underwrite new business, renewals and MTAs within delegated authority.
  • Provide a high standard of customer service, supported by a strong level of technical knowledge.
  • Analyse risk information, financials, claims experience and survey reports to make sound underwriting decisions.
  • Structure and negotiate terms, conditions, endorsements and limits in line with product wordings and underwriting guides.
  • Refer cases outside personal authority with clear rationale and recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with key brokers and partners.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a commercial underwriting role within an insurer, MGA or broker with underwriting authority.
  • Previous experience of underwriting new and existing property business.
  • Proven track record of managing a profitable book and achieving underwriting KPIs.
  • Experience of working closely with brokers to develop and retain business.
  • Real presence, drive, energy and enthusiasm to contribute to the team.
