P&I Insurance Services is looking for an experienced Power BI Developer to join our newly formed Divisional Data Team on a contract basis. You will help transform data from multiple sources into high-quality, insightful reporting solutions that support management information, financial performance, and regulatory reporting for a global organisation.
Contract type: Initial 6 months, with potential extension. Location: Hybrid – 3 days per week in a London office.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build and deliver engaging, interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that clearly communicate insights and support strategic decisions.
- Work closely with business analysts to translate stakeholder requirements into clear technical specifications and reporting solutions.
- Partner with data engineering teams to source, transform and model data for reliable, high-quality reporting.
- Support data governance initiatives by documenting data lineage and ensuring transparency and regulatory alignment.
- Analyse data to identify trends, issues and opportunities, presenting actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Assist with testing and validation of data and reports to ensure accuracy, consistency and reliability.
- Help manage and maintain a portfolio of Power BI assets, including access management, documentation, updates and issue resolution.
- Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the business and technology teams.
- Proven experience developing Power BI reports using Power Query and DAX.
- Strong SQL skills for data modelling, transformation, and ingestion from data warehouses.
- Ability to quickly understand business needs and deliver production-ready reporting solutions.
- Solid understanding of Power BI best practices, including data modelling, UX design, workspace management, and security (RLS/OLS).
- Experience optimizing Power BI performance to deliver fast, responsive reports.
- Excellent communication skills, able to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms (Snowflake highly desirable).
- Power BI or Microsoft BI certifications (advantageous but not essential).
- Familiarity with ERP and enterprise management systems such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft or similar (desirable).
- Experience working alongside data engineering or DevOps teams (a plus).
- Strong focus on accuracy, quality and attention to detail.
- Confidence managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proactive communication, keeping stakeholders informed and escalating risks early.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach with a willingness to share knowledge.
- Clear, practical communication style with an emphasis on insight over jargon.
- Curiosity and confidence to challenge existing approaches and suggest improvements.
