Salary: QTS - £30,000 to £35,000 per annum depending on qualification, experience, and performance. Unqualified - £20,598 to £29,000 per annum depending on qualification, experience, and performance.
Hours: Full time - 5 days per week
Working weeks: Ordinarily, this will consist of 190 days (38 weeks term time), of direct contact with students, employees, or agencies, 5 days (1 week) professional development, 15 discretionary days (3 weeks) as directed by the Headteacher, which may also include direct student contact.

Core Purpose:
- To deliver a broad, balanced, and differentiated English curriculum across a range of qualification pathways, including Entry Level, Functional Skills, GCSE, and post-16 provision, tailored to meet individual pupil needs.
- To deliver phonics and literacy programmes and adapt teaching approaches for small group and 1:1 settings, using trauma-informed practice to support pupils who have experienced adversity.
- To teach creatively and therapeutically, enabling pupils with SEN/SEMH needs to engage, make progress, and build confidence and self-esteem.
- To ensure pupils' special educational needs are met through a consistent, high-quality approach aligned with the organisation's therapeutic values and ethos.
- The ability to teach additional subjects is desirable but not essential.
- To work collaboratively as part of the wider school team and act as a positive role model and ambassador for Physis as a leading provider of therapeutic education.
The Requirements:
- Degree level or equivalent qualification in the teacher's subject specialism - ENGLISH
- DET (DTLLS) & QTLS (or willingness to achieve) OR PGCE Secondary & QTS OR Teaching Degree & QTS.
- Recent and relevant experience as an effective Teacher delivering English at various levels e.g. functional skills, GCSE, Entry level, Phonics, Literacy.
- A Level (A* – C) or nationally recognised Level 3 qualification in English.
- Recent and relevant experience as an effective teacher across KS3‐KS4, delivering at various levels e.g. functional skills, GCSE, Entry level, Vocational pathways.
- Experience of working with secondary students with SEN, SEMH and other needs is desirable.
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of safeguarding processes.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Any unspent conviction/cautions should be declared at the point of application. Any adult cautions (simple or conditional) or spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 should also be declared.
