Business Manager

Location: Physiotherapy Matters | Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne (travel across the North East)

Position report to: Managing Director

Hours: 24-40hrs / week

The Opportunity:

This is a key leadership role within Physiotherapy Matters.

Working directly alongside the Managing Director and Clinical Manager, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day operations while helping drive the company’s future direction through business development, new partnerships and growth initiatives.

It’s a role that suits an experienced operational leader who enjoys combining people management, business improvement and commercial growth – with real scope to shape how the business develops.

Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

• Lead day-to-day business operations across all services, matching resource to demand.
• Manage administrative and operational teams.
• Ensure systems, processes and resources support business objectives.
• Drive operational excellence and service improvement.

Quality & Compliance

• Maintain organisational compliance and accreditation standards (ISO 9001, CQC, SEQHS, HNS DSP Toolkit, Cyber Essentials).
• Lead quality improvement initiatives.
• Support governance, risk management and audit activities.

Business Growth

• Develop and secure new business opportunities.
• Lead tender searches, bid submissions and procurement responses.
• Build relationships with employers, healthcare providers, insurers and strategic partners.
• Identify opportunities for service expansion and revenue growth.

Leadership

• Lead, coach and develop your teams.
• Support organisational culture and staff engagement.
• Act as a trusted member of the senior leadership team.

What We’re Looking for

You will have:

• Proven operational management experience.
• A track record of leading and developing teams.
• Strong commercial and financial awareness.
• Business development experience, ideally within healthcare, with demonstrable results.
• Excellent organisational, planning and communication skills.
• A proactive, positive and solution-focused approach.
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery.

Healthcare sector experience would be advantageous but isn’t essential -we’re just as interested in strong operational and commercial leaders from other industries.
