This post with Physiological Measurements Limited sits within its community NOUS ultrasound service, which feeds an integrated patient pathway for close-to-home investigations. The core of the work is independent musculoskeletal ultrasound scanning, including lumps and bumps, with clinical reports issued under the post-holder's own accountability. The role rotates across several clinic sites, so independent travel is a condition of the post. Candidates need at least two years of independent scanning and reporting and a postgraduate MSK ultrasound qualification.
What the job involves
- Deliver community musculoskeletal ultrasound, including lumps and bumps, within the integrated patient pathway
- Undertake and interpret diagnostic imaging independently
- Formulate, issue and be accountable for clinical reports
- Work across clinic locations through the week, travelling independently
- Plan, assess and deliver own workload with administrators and clinical lead
- Liaise with referrers and take part in clinical audit
- Train and mentor new sonographers
- Assist with clinical triage and clinic risk assessments
- Promote effective professional and evidence-based practice
- Support service development and innovation
- Safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults and children
- Keep e-learning and mandatory training up to date
Qualifications
- PG Cert or PG Dip in musculoskeletal ultrasound from an accredited university
Registration & licences
- Professional registration with HCPC, SoR or RCT
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' independent scanning and reporting
Checks & eligibility
- Enhanced DBS check
- UK driving licence
Nice to have
- Experience working within the NHS
- Good IT skills
