Overview

As the Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager(maternity cover), you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s external financial reporting policies and processes, with a primary focus on US GAAP and other key accounting standards, such as UK GAAP and IFRS. In this role, you will research, document, and implement technical accounting standards while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. You will also play a key role in implementing and maintaining internal controls.

In addition to having a thorough knowledge of financial reporting standards, you will leverage a strong awareness of the laws and regulations impacting financial policies and procedures to help shape and refine company policies as BVI continues to grow.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures timely and accurate development, approval, and filing of various documents required by shareholders, lenders, and regulatory authorities. Participates in the preparing financial statements, coordinating reviews, and incorporating comments from management, attorneys, and auditors. May support various statutory accounts preparation and filing, including XBRL reporting.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of current US and UK GAAP and other requirements and stays abreast of company business activities.
  • Provides research and technical accounting support, including performing analysis, writing policy and technical accounting memos, and taking ownership of select accounting areas topics (which may include revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, derivatives, tax provisions, etc.)
  • Keeps abreast of new accounting standards (mainly US and UK GAAP) and leads the adoption across the Group.
  • Ensures accurate and timely preparation and review of financial data, including financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and underlying analysis and support.
  • Works closely with finance leadership to ensure compliance with accounting, governmental, and financial based corporate policies.
  • Oversees, implements, and manages areas of the internal controls compliance program including improving underlying business support processes.

Qualifications

  • ACCA, CPA, or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum 5 years accounting and reporting experience in US/UK GAAP required. Have thorough knowledge of UK/US GAAP and S.E.C. reporting experience.
  • Experience working in medium to large size companies essential, with Life Sciences industry and Big 4 accounting firm experiences preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and to adapt to changing work priorities; strong team-building and collaboration skills across the organization.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and other financial software preferred.
  • Excellent MS Excel, Word, and Power Point skills, essential.
  • Ability to manage highly confidential material in an appropriate manner required.
