Bank contract: variable hours according to service needs and your availability
Farnham, with work across our hospice and retail shops

Are you looking for a flexible role where your practical skills can make a real difference? At Phyllis Tuckwell, our maintenance team helps keep our buildings safe, welcoming and ready to support exceptional care for patients and their families.

We have an opening for a Bank Maintenance Operative within our friendly and supportive Estates team. You will provide additional support during busy periods and staff holidays and help with larger maintenance and improvement projects when extra capacity is needed.

Reporting to the Estates Manager, you will carry out a variety of planned maintenance and day-to-day repairs across our hospice and retail shops. Tasks will draw on your practical skills, such as carpentry, painting and general building maintenance. You will also identify and report defects, keep records of completed work and work alongside colleagues and contractors to minimise disruption to our services.

This role would suit someone who enjoys varied, hands-on work and takes pride in doing a job well. Hours and days will vary according to the needs of Phyllis Tuckwell and your availability.

If you would like to put your maintenance experience to use in a welcoming and committed team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

About You

A successful Bank Maintenance Operative will have:

  • Previous experience in a maintenance or similar role, including general building maintenance carried out safely.
  • Practical maintenance skills, such as carpentry, painting and general DIY.
  • A basic understanding of the inspection and maintenance of mechanical and electrical services.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise work, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with an approachable and helpful manner.
  • A willingness to work sensitively across all areas of the hospice, including the ward.
  • A current, clean UK driving licence and more than two years’ driving experience, as required by our insurance.

A recognised trade qualification, experience in a hospice, hospital or care home, experience working with volunteers, and familiarity with Microsoft Office would be an advantage.

For a full list of essential requirements, please refer to the job description and person specification document.
