Phyllis Court Club, a prestigious private members’ club located on the River Thames in Henley‑on‑Thames, is seeking an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to support our culinary team.

With a heritage spanning over 100 years, Phyllis Court Club offers world‑class amenities, exceptional service and unforgettable dining experiences to an exclusive membership.

The Role

As a Kitchen Porter you will be part of a fresh‑food‑led kitchen environment, helping maintain the highest standards of hygiene and culinary excellence for our members.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a team to clean and organise the kitchen
  • Operate the dish machine safely and keep good hygiene practices
  • Keep all surfaces neat and tidy to minimise safety issues
  • Clean all dishes, floors and equipment in a sanitary and timely manner
  • Monitor and deliver acceptable standards of staff food provision
  • Take every opportunity to improve the place
  • Clean kitchen equipment with correct training safely
  • Maintain a clean working station adhering to health & safety standards
  • Assist with cleaning and organisation of kitchen and equipment
  • Restock items for the chefs throughout the shift
  • Assist with safe storage of deliveries with proper rotation and temperature records kept
  • Actively participate in the club’s Food Safety management system (FOOD ALERT)
  • Maintain high levels of hygiene and health and safety
  • Report any irregularities to the Senior Sous Chefs or Head of Operations
  • Practice good personnel hygiene at all times
  • Report all accidents to the Senior Chef on duty or Duty Manager
  • Ensure good working relationships with kitchen personnel and other departments
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required

  • Passionate about working in hospitality
  • Great eye for detail and pride in a clean and tidy workplace
  • Willing to work in different kitchen areas with good all‑round knowledge
  • Organised and able to work under pressure
  • Team player with a flexible and adaptable approach
  • High level of professionalism
  • Good personnel hygiene
  • Good communication skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter in a busy kitchen environment
  • Previous experience in a private members club or similar environment
  • First Aid trained or willingness to attain
