We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer responsible for maintaining approximately 50 WordPress websites, ensuring optimal performance, security, and user experience. This role requires strong front-end and back-end development skills, focusing on innovative web solutions and engaging digital experiences. The position involves managing out-of-hours support, handling website downtime, bugs, and client communication. Experience with support systems and excellent written English are required. Our websites primarily utilize WordPress, ACF, and React. Our workflow involves Github and deployment platforms like Digital Ocean, Forge, and Kinsta.
Key Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Manage out-of-hours support tickets and communicate effectively with clients.
- Identify and resolve website issues; collaborate with developers for fixes.
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins to meet project requirements.
- Integrate third-party APIs and web services to enhance functionality.
- Collaborate with UX/UI designers to implement responsive web design principles.
- Optimize websites for SEO, performance, and security best practices.
- Write clean, efficient code using PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React or Angular where applicable.
- Manage version control using Git or SVN and participate in code reviews.
- Conduct unit testing and debugging across different browsers and devices.
- Maintain documentation in line with SDLC standards.
- Stay updated with web development trends including AWS, Azure, Docker, and DevOps practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience with WordPress development, including theme and plugin customization.
- Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS), JavaScript (TypeScript), and responsive web design principles.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React or Angular is desirable.
- Experience working with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or MongoDB; knowledge of data visualization tools is advantageous.
- Knowledge of server-side frameworks including Django, Spring Framework, or ASP.NET is beneficial.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of system architecture principles including RESTful APIs, SOAP web services, and GraphQL.
- Experience deploying on cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is preferred.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and web design principles.
- Ability to wireframe interfaces and translate designs into functional websites.
