Overview
PHONO SOUNDS UK are looking for a Digital Distribution Manager to join our growing global Recordings team. This role will manage the Digital Distribution function from master and metadata ingestion through to delivery to DSPs including Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music amongst many others. You will work closely with A&R, Campaign Managers, Production and International Sales to ensure accurate delivery of digital assets to DSPs and other digital platforms. You will also be responsible for maintaining metadata across our entire catalogue to ensure information is complete and up to date, as well as implementing systems and workflows for music and asset distribution across the business.
Responsibilities
- METADATA MANAGEMENT + ADMINISTRATION: Collection, collation, curation, categorisation of all music metadata into the metadata spreadsheet for the management and administration of all listed items.
- RIGHTS MANAGEMENT: Registering, correcting and fixing rights with PROs and other music administration bodies (PRS, PPL, MCPRS, SoundExchange, the MLC and all types of song registration platforms) to ensure smooth royalty flow to all contributors concerned with the song/catalogue.
- CATALOGUE MANAGEMENT: Ensure all identifiers have been issued correctly (ISRC, UPC, ISNI, IPI, IPN, etc.). Coordinate with Phono Sounds to issue outstanding identifiers and note ISRC/UPC digital encoding/finger printing where applicable.
- DIGITAL OPTIMISATION: Ensure the catalogue is represented uniquely across the digital landscape (artist/song profiles on Google/Knowledge Panel, MusicBrainz, Discogs, Soundscan Mediabase, etc.).
- DIGITAL LIBRARY DELIVERY: Deliver/register songs with digital libraries (Musicbrainz, Discogs, etc.).
- DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT: Manage assets including registering lyrics on lyric platforms, metadata embedding in MP3/WAV, file naming, shot management and delivery, DAW stems registration with Discogs, with standard file naming.
- DIGITAL MUSIC DISTRIBUTION: Distribute music digitally to all DSPs globally, oversee metadata and product creation, storage, and distribution, and manage catalogue.
- Asset delivery: Ensure accurate and timely delivery of assets to DSPs (downloads, streaming, video, and promotional platforms).
- METADATA INGEST & RELEASES: Gather and ingest metadata for new projects; maintain and distribute release schedules; manage bulk delivery of catalogue to new DSPs as deals are confirmed.
- PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Work with Head of Operations and distributors to establish robust product creation, metadata ingestion and digital distribution processes (including issuing ISRC, BAR CODES, etc.).
- LICENSING & RIGHTS COMPLIANCE: Manage licensing across all media world-wide on behalf of PHONO; ensure recording assets follow collection societies’ data standards to maximise revenue from public performance; knowledge of neighbouring rights and metadata standards.
- RELATIONSHIPS & DATA QUALITY: Build relationships with A&R and PHONO affiliates to ensure correct repertoire entry; monitor PPL/PRS/MCPS/ASCAP notifications; review processes for efficiency; maintain metadata in internal databases; resolve claims and disputes; complete manual registrations with collection societies; respond to inquiries on music publishing issues.
- STREAMING & PUBLISHING STRATEGY: Develop and implement streaming strategy, collaborate with internal teams and external partners on streaming initiatives; maintain relationships with streaming editors, deliver pitches for playlist placements; monitor performance and provide insights and reports.
- ARTIST CAMPAIGNS: Develop and execute streaming campaigns for a diverse roster of domestic and international artists; attend streaming partner meetings to pitch releases; deliver innovative campaigns focusing on artist development and fan engagement; interpret data to inform decisions and set performance targets.

- Proven experience in a similar role within the music industry.
- In-depth knowledge of streaming platforms and their functionalities.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to inform decision-making.
- Excellent communication and pitching skills.
- Passion for dance music and understanding of various genres; strong experience in streaming and playlist strategy via label, distributor, or DSP.
- Expert knowledge of streaming services’ inner workings; strong understanding of music data/analytics and ability to derive strategic recommendations.
- Creative thinker with a problem-solving mindset; highly organized with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills; team player; methodical with meticulous attention to detail.
