OVERVIEW

PhoenixPlace is a small specialist independent school for girls with complex social, emotional and attachment difficulties. We provide education across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Officer to join our team. This is a pivotal role supporting the wellbeing, safeguarding, and attendance of our students. Our school is a positive and energetic environment in which everyone is encouraged to do their best and achieve their full potential, a place where everybody is valued and respected. This is an exciting time to join our team as we continue to develop innovative ways to meet the complex needs of vulnerable young people.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL:

  • Provide pastoral support to students, promoting positive wellbeing and inclusion.
  • Take a lead role in safeguarding, working under the direction of the Director of Pastoral Care (who is also our Designated Safeguarding Lead) and external agencies to ensure the safety of every child.
  • Monitor and improve student attendance, working closely with families to remove barriers to learning.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff, fostering a supportive and caring school community.

We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of safeguarding, and the resilience to support children with diverse needs. Experience of working with young people in an educational, social care, or community setting is essential.
