PhoenixPlace is a specialist independent school (established 2014) for girls with complex social, emotional, educational and attachment difficulties. We provide education, nurture and support across key stages 3 and 4 and are looking for a passionate Teaching & Learning Support Assistant to join our vibrant and growing school. The right candidate will be someone who is dedicated to improving outcomes for students with additional needs, and can establish a quick rapport with staff, students and parents.
Working as part of the Teaching & Learning Support team under the direction of the SEND Team, you will:
- Work under the guidance of the class teacher to support the management and organisation of teaching and learning in the classroom
- Assist the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environment
- Promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
- Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school
- Contribute to the personal and academic progress of all students to enable them to become independent learners and help to raise the standards of achievement for all students.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
- Empathy and understanding of students' needs
- Ability to maintain a professional manner in challenging situations.
- Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (desirable)
- A proven ability to work on their own initiative.
- A high level of communication skills and the ability to relate positively to children and adults.
- The ability to use relevant technology/equipment.
- A βcan-doβ attitude.
- A commitment to the happiness, well-being, self-esteem and progress of everyone at the school.
