Phoenix Futures are looking for enthusiastic, passionate and motivated substance use professionals to join our innovative service aimed at improving access to drug and alcohol treatment for people who sleep rough in London. All travel expenses within London are paid.

We're recruiting a Senior Recovery Practitioner to join our London Regional Homeless Engagement with Substance Treatment Team (RhEST) - a centrally commissioned service providing assertive outreach and trauma‐informed support across the capital.

The Role

  • Engaging with rough sleepers across London who are affected by drug and/or alcohol use
  • Conducting needs and risk assessments in‑person
  • Delivering trauma‑informed, harm reduction support and brief psychosocial interventions
  • Advocating and referring into local statutory substance use services
  • Case manage clients independently while collaborating within a small, experienced, and supportive team
  • Navigating multi‑agency partnerships to ensure holistic, coordinated care
  • Working flexibly and proactively engaging hard‑to‑reach clients to improve health outcomes, quality of life, and access to treatment
  • Supporting people who are leaving prison and at risk of homelessness
  • Targeted work alongside the London Navigator Teams to support the most disadvantaged homeless people across London

About You

  • Experienced in supporting people with substance use and/or homelessness issues (essential)
  • Skilled in trauma‑informed care and brief psychosocial interventions
  • Knowledgeable about harm reduction practices concerning substance use
  • Confident with risk management, safeguarding, and lone working protocols
  • Able to work independently, manage a complex caseload, and prioritise in a dynamic outreach environment
  • Empathetic, adaptable, and confident communicating with diverse communities and professionals
  • Willing and able to travel across London regularly (expenses covered)
