The Role
We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Quant Delivery/Business Analyst in our Capital Markets team within the Asset Management function.
The role is key to sustain the continued maturity of our data journey within the function and will contribute to the successful development of the Phoenix Group Asset Management vision, particularly in delivering a world-class data ecosystem.
The successful candidate will have an extensive track record of working with Quant Engineering platforms, Front, Middle and Back Office teams and have a good understanding of the trade lifecycle from both an investment and operational perspective. You will have an unwavering attention to detail as you collaborate with internal and external teams involved in managing and supporting our asset data.
You will also be responsible for developing the business and technical requirements required to evolve the data operating model, primarily for the Capital Markets business, working as part of an agile scrum team to develop solutions to satisfy those requirements.
The role requires the ability to communicate at multiple levels and is best suited to an individual who can converse with a broad range of colleagues adapting their style to meet multiple audiences and is dynamic and proactive in their thinking with the ability to inspire and motivate the team in order to exceed the needs of senior stakeholders.
Working as part of an agile team through a significant period of transformation and enabling a suitable data operating model for a mature Asset Management function which is core to the success of the wider Phoenix Group.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, oversee and co-ordinate the quant engineering backlog, working with the Quant product owner assigned to the Capital Markets delivery team(s).
- Support and challenge to ensure ways of working are fully adopted and analysis activities completed in line with sprint plans.
- Develop strong relationships with key business stakeholders and other colleagues to elicit requirements and subsequently update on requirements evolution in a business focused way.
- Support and host discussions within a multidisciplinary team, with potentially difficult dynamics.
- Support the project manage(s) / delivery managers(s) to regularly asses the progress and effectiveness of the discovery and analysis effort, taking interventions as needed to deliver work to agreed timescales and quality.
- Create artefacts supporting agile ways of working e.g. user stories with acceptance criteria (JIRA)
- Create and maintain good quality stores of business knowledge and information (JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint etc
- Work with the product owner to prioritise the backlog
- Support delivery teams by communicating effectively within an agile delivery framework
- Identify and document risks, issues and dependencies that are likely to affect the delivery of requirements
- Support the development of sustainable, commercially viable change solutions with clear linkages to Asset Management goals and objectives – end to end (i.e. discovery, analysis/design, build, test and business readiness)
- Provide oversight and advice to other team members involved in the delivery of data and reporting solutions
- Share knowledge and education amongst the Business Analyst community and wider teams
- Manage the workload for the squad driving effective and efficient delivery of work packages.
- Provide timely, accurate and transparent MI that enables the throughput of the squad be managed an provide a key input into work scheduling and where appropriate prioritisation.
What we\’re looking for
Essential
- Significant years working in the asset management industry and highly regulated environments.
- front-office experience and Aladdin ecosystem
- Delivery hands on experience – working closely with the Quant teams to ensure successful outcomes,
- Direct experience with datasets relating to investment, asset data, including derivatives i.e. trade lifecycle
- Experience working with Front, Middle and Back Office teams to gather and interpret business process and technical requirements
- Understanding of the key concepts of Quant Engineering
- Relevant experience working as part of an agile team – end to end i.e. discovery, analysis/design, build, test and business readiness
- Experience engaging with third party vendors and collaborating on joint technology solutions
- Great stakeholder management and engagement skills
- Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills, in particular for problem solving and troubleshooting activities, ability to communicate effectively in a technical and non-technical ways.
- Ability to demonstrate resilience, flexibility and adapt to changing schedules and priorities
Delivery Experience
- Experience of using Microsoft office tools to an advanced standard
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and tooling to support agile delivery of projects (e.g. Jira/Confluence)
- Experience in modern ways of working (examples include Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, Test Automation)
- Understanding of data concepts e.g. Data Management/Governance
- Understanding of architecture and design concepts for data exploitation solutions
- Experience using technologies includes Analytics (E.g. R & Python), Reporting (E.g. Quicksight, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI) & APIs
- Demonstrable expertise in the areas of business analysis in large complex IT estates
