Job Description
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Edinburgh, Birmingham, or London (Hybrid), with an expectation of at least 2-3 days in the office.
Flexible working: This is a full time position with a flexible working model. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process. You can read more about Phoenix Flex here.

Salary and benefits: £115,000 – £130,000 plus an indicative bonus range of 30%-60%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

Are you ready to lead a high-performing team and revolutionize how tax compliance is delivered? We\’re looking for a visionary Head of Tax Compliance & Advisory to take the reins of our UK corporate tax compliance function – while spearheading a bold transformation agenda.
This is more than a compliance role. It’s your opportunity to reshape processes, unlock efficiencies, and elevate the strategic value of tax across the business.
The Role

  • Lead with impact: Oversee the completion and submission of all UK (and some overseas) corporate tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate delivery;
  • Inspire and manage: Lead a talented team across Edinburgh, Birmingham, and London, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration;
  • Transform and innovate: Partner with our Senior Manager for Tax Technology to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance controls;
  • Advise and influence: Working alongside the Deputy Group Tax Director to deliver high quality advice to the business in a commercial context;
  • Deliver value: Free up capacity to focus on high-impact, value-added tax insights that support business growth.

  • Solid experience of the taxation of life companies, together with an in depth knowledge of corporation tax.
  • Tax or accounting professional qualification (eg ACA/CTA or equivalent)
