A unique position has arisen at a not-for-profit trade body to be their Chair. The body's mission is to support and champion the interests of SMEs in the UK. The enterprise prides itself on influencing the policy and regulation, which in turn drives business growth and long-term investment for investors and the wider business community.
The Chair of the Board is a critical appointment. The appointee will be responsible for providing leadership to the organisation, developing strategy in consultation with the Board, and effectively chairing and leading the Board of Directors. Alongside managing the effective use of the body's resources and influencing the policies and regulations that will affect the body's members, the role will also require the appointee to be visible by attending external events and, where appropriate, media duties.
The role will suit someone with a demonstrable track record of setting the direction and driving the strategy of a Board, ensuring rigour, independence, and corporate governance are adhered to. We are interested in speaking to people who have gained a first-class career working in law, financial services, or wider professional services, as well as a listed entity, and who understand corporate governance and business/regulatory frameworks.
The Chair position is a hugely influential role and will very much suit someone who is passionate about giving back to the business community. Please note, this is an unpaid Chair role. However, expenses in the course of duty will be fully covered.
