Company Overview: Our client is a Tier 1 mission-critical contractor delivering hyperscale data centre campuses across the UK and Europe for global hyperscale clients including AWS, Microsoft, Google, Meta, and Oracle. Projects range from 30MW to 150MW IT load and include substations, data halls, central utility buildings, and full mechanical and electrical infrastructure. These projects typically range from £150m to £1bn in construction value.
Role Purpose: The Commissioning Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of hyperscale data centre construction projects, ensuring alignment with programme, commercial, safety, and technical requirements. This role plays a critical function in ensuring infrastructure is delivered to mission-critical standards and supports successful commissioning and operational handover.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Delivery: Lead and manage delivery of construction scope; Coordinate subcontractors and internal teams; Ensure infrastructure delivered meets client requirements.
- Programme Management: Manage delivery in accordance with programme milestones; Identify and mitigate programme risks.
- Commercial Management: Support commercial performance and cost control; Manage subcontractor performance.
- Commissioning Support: Ensure infrastructure supports commissioning readiness; Support integrated systems testing.
- Safety and Quality: Ensure compliance with safety standards; Maintain quality standards and compliance.
- Authority and Decision Making: Authority to manage subcontractors and construction teams within assigned scope; Authority to escalate commercial and programme risks; Authority to enforce safety and quality standards.
