A Senior Sous Chef opportunity has arisen to join the catering team based at one of the Financial corporate head offices in the City of London, serving 1000 people on site. The catering offer consists of an extensive breakfast and lunch menu for staff, along with day-to-day hospitality and events such as finger food, bowl food, and canapés. There are limited fine dining lunches or dinners (approximately 2-3 a year). The kitchen prides itself on the quality of produce and ingredients, allowing for an extensive daily changing menu that includes a bistro station, a wide range of healthy salad options, a grazing counter, street food concepts, themed days, and dishes from around the world.
The breakfast service mirrors this with offerings such as a porridge station, a large hot breakfast section with various types of sausages and bacon, different styles of eggs, congee, waffles, and much more. The menus are constantly evolving, requiring chefs to remain innovative and creative.
Duties as Senior Sous Chef:
- Support the head chef with the day-to-day running and management of back of house/kitchen operations.
- Manage, lead, mentor, and develop your team.
- Act as second in command of a kitchen brigade of 20, managing kitchen operations and liaising with front of house in the head chef's absence.
- Cook and manage kitchen operations including health and safety, allergens, ordering, and inputting dishes onto the menu.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience and knowledge of various cuisines and cooking styles, have catered for 1000 covers plus, and possess a real passion for food.
