We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development / Sales Manager to lead sales growth within the building services sector, with a focus on both project management solutions and planned/reactive maintenance contracts. This is a key commercial role requiring a proactive individual with an established network of contacts, strong technical understanding of building services, and the ability to secure new business quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities in building services (projects & maintenance).
- Leverage existing industry contacts to generate immediate revenue.
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline aligned with company growth targets.
- Prepare and deliver client presentations, proposals, and bids.
- Respond to tenders and negotiate contracts to closure.
Client Relationship Management
- Build long-term relationships with consultants, FM companies, property managers, landlords, and end users.
- Conduct regular client meetings to understand requirements and promote service offerings.
- Provide exceptional customer service to ensure client retention and repeat business.
Commercial & Strategic Responsibilities
- Develop sales strategies to penetrate key market sectors.
- Achieve and exceed revenue and margin targets.
- Work closely with internal teams (projects, engineering, maintenance) to ensure smooth handover of secured work.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven track record in business development or sales within the building services / M&E / FM sector.
- Strong understanding of both project delivery (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, refurbishments) and maintenance contracts.
- Existing industry network and the ability to bring in work quickly.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, set priorities, and drive results.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience selling into commercial, residential, industrial, or public-sector environments.
- Knowledge of PPM planning, reactive call-out services, and compliance.
- Technical background (mechanical or electrical engineering) beneficial but not essential.
