A highly successful womenswear supplier, design led, requires an established/senior Garment Technologist specialising in soft separates and a small amount of soft tailoring, working with jersey and woven fabrics. This role is based in their London studio; sorry, no work from home.
Garment Technologist - The Role
This is an exciting role for a dynamic individual who would like to progress their career. Working very closely with the Design and Production team, this position will involve:
- Working on design-led womenswear collections (multi-product).
- No pattern cutting or amendments in this role, but a comprehensive understanding of pattern construction and balance is required.
- Developing garments with designers and customers from first fit to final sealer.
- Setting up workbooks for each development sample to be fitted.
- Attending fit meetings with the designer and customer, correctly processing all resulting information.
- Forming good working relationships with customers and fully understanding customer fit notes to communicate/action with the internal team.
- Measuring samples to create, amend, and update fully graded specs using customer workbooks.
- Preparing production packs for the factory.
- Creating production packs and all related paperwork, adhering to the critical path schedule at all times.
- Liaising with factories via the company production office and helping to improve factory standards, which requires a solid understanding of factory production methods.
- Managing the approval process of all pre-production and bulk production, reporting to the Technical Manager.
- Updating planner and critical path for all tasks.
Garment Technologist - The Candidate
- Must have previous experience as a garment technician with a supplier.
- Strong communication skills, excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and adhere to agreed critical paths.
- Experience with soft separates, jersey, and woven fabrics.
- Good knowledge of garment fit construction and grading.
- Eye for detail and quality.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office.
- Practical attention to detail, focused and results-oriented.
