We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Solicitor Apprentice to join our Company Secretariat team, supporting the Phoenix UK group of businesses while working towards qualification as a solicitor. This role is ideal for someone who is ambitious, organised, and eager to gain hands‑on experience across a broad range of legal and compliance matters in a fast‑paced corporate setting.
About the Role
Reporting to the Company Secretary, you’ll work closely with both the Company Secretary and Legal Counsel, providing legal and business support across the organisation. You’ll gain valuable exposure to commercial law, governance, compliance, litigation support, and business projects while developing the practical skills needed for a successful legal career.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting the Company Secretary and Legal Counsel in delivering legal services to the business
- Reviewing commercial contracts, agreements, and terms & conditions
- Carrying out legal research and preparing first drafts of legal advice
- Supporting legal aspects of tenders and business projects
- Assisting with the management of disputes and litigation
- Liaising with external legal advisers and coordinating specialist advice
- Supporting board administration and governance activities
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments and helping communicate impacts across the business
- Promoting legal awareness throughout the organisation
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- A 2:1 Law Degree or above covering foundational legal subjects: Contract Law, Tort Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, Trusts, Land Law
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF
- Excellent organisational skills
- A proactive and personable approach
- Strong problem‑solving ability
- High attention to detail
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a legal or professional services environment
- Strong telephone manner
- Ability to write confidently in professional business English
- Good note‑taking skills
