Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the North Cornwall Integrated Therapy team, based primarily at Stratton Hospital.
You will gain experience with a wide variety of admissions, conditions and social problems. Every contact and treatment plan is different, bringing variety and challenge to each day.
This is an innovative service, constantly adapting to meet community and service user needs, so we require a can do attitude and a keenness to learn and develop.
Stratton Hospital has 17 rehabilitation beds.
As part of the Therapy Service, you will be supported in developing clinical skills, working with the wider MDT and community services. Our education-focused team offers in-service training, clinical and peer supervision, and wider development opportunities. Staff are encouraged to contribute to service improvement and leadership. With strong university links, we support fieldwork education, and you will have opportunities to supervise students and therapy assistants.

Main duties of the job
The post is 30 hours per week with working pattern to be agreed at interview.
Seven day working may be a requirement of this post in the future.
You will need excellent communication, organisation and prioritisation skills to work effectively in this busy environment, providing specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions to inpatients, providing rehabilitation and contributing a specific occupational perspective to planning and facilitating discharge.
The in-patient occupational therapy service has a commitment to service innovation, evidence-based practice and professional development.
You will have regular supervision with the Lead Occupational Therapist.
You will have opportunity to host Occupational Therapy Students from Plymouth university as a practice educator

- Evidence of professional knowledge acquired through specialist courses or experience to post-graduate equivalent diploma level
- Previous experience working in the community setting

- Highly specialist skills in psychological care
- Presentation and teaching skills
- Ability to work in highly stressful situation including the ability to manage distressing and highly emotive situations successfully
