Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 nursing associate to work within the Mid Cornwall Locality in the Older People\’s Mental Health Community Service.

This is a newly developed role and the successful applicant will work within the Multidisciplinary team, completing mental health reviews for patients and supporting the Care Co-Ordinator\’s in their role.

The Mid Cornwall DOPMH Community Mental Health Service are a dynamic team who support patients presenting with acute and severe:

  • Behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia of any age
  • Functional mental health disorders over the age of 75

This job role will require the successful applicant to be able to independently travel to patient\’s houses within the Mid Cornwall area and will require loan working.

The role is for 37.5 hours per week. This will entail working Monday to Friday 09:00 – 17:00 (excluding 0.5 hour unpaid lunch break each day)

Main duties of the job

This post will entail holding a caseload of patients who require mental health support including:

  • Medication tolerance reviews
  • Risk reviews
  • Care Plan reviews
  • Reviews of specific conditions including both functional and organic mental health disorders
  • Administering long acting injectable antipsychotic medications and monitoring for side effects
  • Reviews for patients under Section 117 of the MHA (1983)

This role will also require working within the Multidisciplinary Team. It will involve supporting the Community Psychiatric Nurses within the service in their roles as Care Co-ordinators and Duty Clinicians.
