Overview
Neurodevelopmental Practitioner / Developmental role at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (Band 5 to Band 6). Fixed-term/ permanent opportunities in the Neurodevelopmental Assessment team in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The post may be offered at Band 5 or Band 6 depending on experience.
The successful applicants will contribute to the delivery of specialist Neurodevelopmental assessments and advice for children and young people (CYP) on the Neurodevelopmental assessment pathway, including those with highly complex presentations, and will participate in multi‑professional assessment and liaison with partners to inform the wider offer of support for CYP.
Main duties
- Participate in the delivery of specialist Neurodevelopmental assessments and advice for CYP on the Neurodevelopmental assessment pathway.
- Contribute to multi‑professional diagnosis of Autism and other co‑morbid conditions (e.g., ADHD, Developmental Language Disorder, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Intellectual difficulties).
- Liaise with partners across the system to gather vital assessment information and inform the wider offer of support for CYP.

Location and arrangements
Site: Underground House, Unit 3, Town: Truro. Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Salary: £31,049 – £46,580 per annum. Closing date: 17/09/2025 23:59. Contract: Permanent. Grade: Band 5 to Band 6.

Qualifications and experience
Essential criteria
- Professional qualification with accreditation such as Qualified Teacher Status or registration with HCPC/NMC (or equivalent).
- Degree-level training with evidence of additional training relevant to neurodevelopmental disorders and development.
- Experience of working with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders, and with children and young people with complex conditions and needs.
Desirable criteria
- Training to use the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS).
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Ability to carry out core diagnostic assessment work, including structured and detailed observation of verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Consider psychosocial, physical, emotional and environmental factors as part of a patient-centered assessment approach.
- Ability to use a range of assessment methods with CYP and to analyse and interpret results in relation to theoretical and clinical knowledge.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of differential diagnoses and comorbidities associated with neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., ASD, ADHD, Tic disorders, DCD, Learning Disabilities, trauma and attachment difficulties).
