Overview

Successful applicants will be invited to attend a selection day at Carew House, Bodmin on 23 January 2026. This will be in the morning or afternoon, to be confirmed.

We are pleased to offer opportunities for experienced Healthcare Assistants and for those looking to start their careers as a Care Support Assistant. Positions are available at Band 2 or Band 3 depending on your level of experience.

This role will be based on Willow Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Liskeard Community Hospital temporarily until March 2026. Following this date you will be permanently based on Anchor Ward, Bodmin Community Hospital.

The post holder will be committed to the ongoing development of the wards and multidisciplinary team working, aiming to deliver the highest standards of patient care.

This position requires a cheerful and enthusiastic individual with a \”can‑do\” attitude. In return, we will support you in your career. Permanent contracts are available, with duties covering nights (19:30–08:00) and long days (07:30–20:00) on a rotational basis to support 24‑hour nursing care, seven days per week.

Main Duties

  • Assist in the delivery of clinical care planned and assessed by the Registered Nurses.
  • Carry out care and other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Senior Healthcare Assistant.
  • Support care on a day‑to‑day basis for all patients in the clinical area in a manner sensitive to the individual client’s needs and wishes, acknowledging their rights and beliefs at all times.
  • Contribute to resource management within the clinical area.

Person Specification

Education & Qualification – Essential

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health Care or equivalent
  • Willingness and competency to complete the Care Certificate within set timeframe

Education & Qualification – Desirable

  • Level 2 qualification or experience in a care environment

Skills, Aptitude & Knowledge – Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Willing to assist and support patients, carers and staff as needed
  • Ability to cope with a varied workload
  • Proficiency with computers for work and training purposes

Skills, Aptitude & Knowledge – Desirable

  • Knowledge of working in a care setting
