Join to apply for the Counsellor/Psychological Therapist role at Phoenix MCT. It is an exciting time to join the Talking Therapies team as we expand to deliver a high-quality psychological therapy service which is forward thinking and innovative.

This role involves working with individuals experiencing low mood and depression, delivering NICE-recommended modalities as part of a team of Counsellors/Psychological Therapists in the Talking Therapies service.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, formulate and implement NICE-recommended modalities of counselling.
  • Deliver time-limited counselling to service users who meet the service referral criteria, in line with Talking Therapies national guidelines and service expectations.
  • Work with individuals experiencing low mood/depression using one of the NICE modalities (e.g., Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, or Couples Counselling for Depression) as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Deliver high-quality services through routine outcome measures, evidence-based treatment, electronic record and data management systems.
  • Participate in clinical and management supervision.
  • Contribute to a high standard of care within an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Advanced Diploma in Counselling with a placement of 80 hours or more.
  • Must be Accredited or working towards accreditation with BACP or UKCP.
  • Training in a NICE-recommended counselling modality is essential if not already held; training (if required) will be arranged by the Talking Therapies service, run alongside the post through the learning provider, and will require course attendance and clinical supervision, including submission of competence-based video recordings.
  • West Cornwall-based role; in-person work within West Cornwall is expected.
