Phoenix Learning & Care are looking for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join the team in my home. This role is about making a difference in the lives of children who may be experiencing difficult emotions and behaviours.

A day in the life of a Senior Support Worker will involve:

  • Assisting the manager with recruitment, supervision, meetings, and inspections.
  • Supporting children to have the best quality of life possible through activities such as baking, fun days out, or holidays.
  • Ensuring our children are kept safe and their plans are suitable for their needs, while monitoring their development and keeping records up to date.
  • Taking part in our on-call rota, averaging 1 on-call per week, with an additional allowance.

To be a successful Senior Support Worker, you’ll need:

  • Patience, compassion, and resilience, as the children may have experienced trauma affecting their behaviour.
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with various individuals and update children’s plans.
  • A driving licence, as you will need to transport children in the community.
  • Flexibility, including the ability to sleep at the home during shifts, as support is needed 24 hours a day.
  • Ideally, a qualification in residential childcare, or the willingness to obtain one within your first 2 years in the sector.
