The Electronic System Engineer is responsible for the design and development of electromechanical systems, control systems, and supporting technologies. This includes the implementation of embedded controls and feedback systems for Phoenix’s non-destructive testing (NDT) products, instruments, and accessories. This position acts as a key technical liaison between the sales, engineering, and production teams, supporting efforts to achieve annual revenue targets. This position will be based at the Company’s facility in Warrington and reports to the Company’s Research & Development Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop innovative electronic and electrical solutions, including system-level schematic design, circuit design, component selection, and PCB schematic capture layout.
- Collaborate with mechanical designers to define housings, installation requirements, and cable routing.
- Develop and perform testing procedures and supporting peripherals.
- Testing, diagnosing, and fault finding of new and existing equipment.
- Work to tight project timescales and budgets.
- Produce documentation to support equipment assembly, operation, and maintenance in line with applicable standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors for manufacturing components.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent in Electronic or Computer Systems Engineering.
- Knowledge of CE standards, testing, and documentation requirements.
- Programming in C/C++.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio, KiCAD, Git & STM32Cube.
- Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical and electronic technologies.
