We’re looking for a Data Solutions Specialist with strong experience in data engineering and pensions data to help us shape better retirements across the UK. In our BPA Data team, you’ll play a key role in delivering scalable, high-quality data solutions that support BPA onboarding and ongoing scheme administration.
Job Type: Permanent
Location: This role could be based in our Edinburgh, Birmingham, Telford or London offices with time spent working from home and from the office.

The role: The Data Solutions Specialist – Annuities is a technically focused role responsible for designing, building, and enhancing data solutions that support the onboarding and ongoing servicing of Bulk Purchase Annuity (BPA) schemes. Working within the BPA Data team and in close partnership with Transformation, the role will develop scalable data models, tooling, and automation to improve the efficiency, control, and accuracy of pensions data processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver scalable data solutions, including data models, pipelines and tooling, translating business requirements into robust technical outputs using Python and SQL.
- Develop and automate data engineering processes, building efficient pipelines, optimising performance, and standardising reusable solutions across BPA schemes.
- Analyse and interpret DB pensions data, supporting data migration, mapping and transformation, and resolving complex data issues in line with scheme rules and calculations.
- Support transformation and change initiatives, collaborating with wider teams to enhance tooling, contribute to strategic data programmes, and embed best practice.
- Embed strong data quality, controls and governance, ensuring auditability, reconciliation, and alignment to regulatory and risk frameworks.
- Engage and collaborate with stakeholders, working across actuarial, operations and transition teams to deliver accurate, reliable and insight-led data outputs.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience in Python and SQL, with the ability to design, build and optimise data pipelines and data models.
- Strong experience working with DB pensions data (BPA) including data mapping, migration and transformation activities.
- Experience implementing data validation, reconciliation and control processes to ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Proven experience working in project or Agile delivery environments, supporting the delivery of data solutions.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience interpreting complex datasets and resolving data issues.
