The predicted salary is between 55000 - 75000 £ per year.

Job Type: 12 month fixed term contract

Location: Edinburgh, Birmingham or London on a hybrid basis, with normally a minimum of 2 days a week working in the office and the rest working at home.

Flexible working: All roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

Salary and benefits: £55,000 to £75,000 depending on experience, plus an indicative bonus range of 16% to 32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role involves:

  • Working with key business partners advising them and overseeing the compilation of senior management applications to ensure they meet high standards whilst working to challenging timescales.
  • Supporting and, as relevant, leading delivery of respective team's responsibilities under the Group Risk Annual Plan, to fulfil the Group Risk Mission and Mandate.
  • Influencing key stakeholders across the Group and externally to drive positive risk outcomes and gain buy-in on risk management initiatives.
  • Providing advice, independent opinion and assurance in alignment with the Group Risk's Mission to promote informed decision making and controlled risk-taking that improves customer outcomes and delivers long-term value for shareholders.
  • Building close working relationships, gaining credibility and an appropriate level of influence in business areas.
  • Managing a variety of Risk Management related tasks and activities concurrently with minimal support, meeting expectations on agreed deliverables and timescales.
  • Continuously developing and maintaining technical knowledge and applying this in conjunction with business awareness in order to provide review, challenge and consultancy.
  • Expressing technical information in plain language for stakeholders with a range of technical knowledge.

The ideal candidate will have the following personal attributes and skills:

  • Exceptional experience of the UK SMCR regime and applications under it in a large regulated firm.
  • Ideally extensive experience of working in the Risk function of a similar type organisation to Standard Life.
