Location: This role will be based in our London office with time spent working from home and from the office. The role We’re currently recruiting for a BPA Senior Transition Manager to join our Annuity Client Services Team. The role will effectively support the safe onboarding of new BPA transactions, while ensuring that existing BPA business is operated efficiently and in line with contractual obligations. You would be the main point of contact for our BPA Trustee clients and their advisors/administrators, owning and driving project plans forward. You’ll also be required to take a hands‑on approach to managing the implementation journey for a varied portfolio of schemes all the way through to buy‑out.

The ideal candidate will also have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with and influence a variety of stakeholders across the business and externally. The role would fit somebody looking for a challenge and an opportunity to develop a team, themselves and their career.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own, drive and manage the implementation of a standard, client‑focussed transition journey for a varied portfolio of schemes, allowing them to incept in a controlled and efficient manner.
  • Supporting Trustees and our outsourced partner through onboarding and onward to buy‑out.
  • Support complex schemes where required, including creation of presentations for Trustees and attendance at meetings with clients to provide an overview of the proposition and services offered by the team.
  • Provide ongoing real‑time support to Trustees, administrators and other third parties as required.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the benefits and data for each scheme within your portfolio, allowing you to act as the first point of contact for all external communication.
  • Develop, own and drive a project plan with each Scheme to proactively manage them through the transition process and onward to buyout.
  • Work closely with the Client Services data analysts and senior data analysts to ensure that all data cleanse activity is completed in line with agreed project plans.
  • Proactively identify emerging issues, liaising with external administrators and Phoenix’s outsourced administrator to rectify.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, Phoenix’s outsourced administrator, scheme administrators and Trustees, providing ongoing support throughout the transition journey.
  • Produce detailed and accurate management information to support effective oversight.
  • Support the preparation of contractual documents and individual pension policy documents at buy‑out.
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are completed on time, and to a high standard before the buy‑out occurs.
  • Support the development of a team of Transition managers ensuring knowledge of the Standard Life proposition is maintained and passed through to the wider team.
What are we looking for?
  • Strong technical knowledge of Bulk Purchase Annuities and Defined Benefit pensions, including experience supporting schemes through transition to buy‑out.
  • Demonstrable experience in BPA transition activity, including new business pitches, interpreting pension benefit data/documentation, and contributing to transition delivery.
  • Proven ability to analyse risk and issues across the transition journey, providing clear, actionable recommendations aligned to project delivery plans.
  • Experience producing and presenting data‑driven insights to stakeholders, translating complex information into clear, engaging outputs to support decision‑making.
  • Track record of working in a project or change environment, collaborating with internal/external stakeholders and operating within outsourced administration models.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement exposure, including working with clients, trustees and third parties, alongside a proactive approach to development and continuous learning.
