Job Type: Permanent

Location: This role could be based from either our Telford or Edinburgh offices with time spent working from home and from the office (3 days) with travel between offices.

Flexible working: All roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

The Team: Data Management is a critical control function within Capital Markets Operations, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of investment data that underpins Standard Life’s Asset Management activities. The team provides comprehensive oversight of static, reference, and operational investment data, enabling robust governance, effective risk management, and data support across the full investment lifecycle.

The role: As Data Management Manager, you will provide leadership, subject matter expertise, and strategic direction across operational data processes. Operating in a dynamic and evolving environment, you will challenge and enhance existing workflows, shape future state processes, and guide the team through significant change— including significant transition activity and key strategic change/deliveries. The role demands strong operational judgement, an analytical mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders to drive continuous improvement, strengthen controls, and support the organisation’s broader RS&AM strategy.

  • Lead a high performing team of Data Management Specialists and Analysts to ensure high levels of data quality, deliver strategic data change and provide excellent service.
  • Monitor, track and develop KPIs to ensure consistently high Data Quality across Capital Market Investment Data, and problem areas are targeted and resolved.
  • Support the effective roll out and utilisation out of key strategic platforms; including Aladdin, Snowflake and Marketplace.
  • Provide Subject Matter expertise on data, and how it should be best utilised to support Asset Management’s use of the platform for portfolio monitoring, analysis and trading.
  • Oversee effective recruitment and training within the team as required.
  • Lead stakeholder management to enable, maintain and enhance the necessary control environment through data quality checks; including but not limited to Front Office teams, Quants, Risk and IT.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to drive education of the purpose and capability of the Asset Management Back Office.
  • Risk and Control; ensure the team adheres to processes and procedures to maintain consistently high standards within the risk and control space. Drive remediation and improvement in process/control whilst managing any reporting involved.

What are we looking for?

  • Strong experience within RS&AM Operations or a closely related investment operations environment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing, controlling, and enhancing investment data processes—static data, reference data, instrument setup, market data, pricing, and data quality remediation.
  • Managerial experience leading and developing teams in a data operations or investment operations setting.
  • Evidence of managing change—supporting system implementations, transitions, new product launches, operating model redesign.
  • Proven experience with front to back data flows and key Asset Management systems (e.g., Aladdin, Snowflake, OMS/EMS/data platforms).
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, including Front Office, Risk, Technology, and external service providers (custodians, data vendors, asset managers).
