We have a fantastic opportunity to join us here at Standard Life, part of the Phoenix Group, to support the development of our retirement income business as part of our growing intermediary Marketing team.
Location: This role can be based at either our London or Edinburgh office, with some flexibility to work between the office locations and home. We recognise the benefits of flexible working and will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 subject to experience, bonus, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The Role: We are looking for an exceptional candidate, who can combine strong marketing experience with technical knowledge of the decumulation phase of retirement. We’re ideally looking for someone who understands annuity products and/or investments products targeted at people nearing or in retirement e.g. smoothed funds or other types of structured products. As a Senior Marketing Manager, you’ll work closely with key stakeholders to build comprehensive marketing strategies to promote these solutions.
You will develop messaging frameworks and content which underpin our campaigns and align with the needs of our different client groups. To do this, you will need to be skilled in taking technical, complex concepts and processes, and bring them to life for advisers and customers. This will include key USPs and points of competitive differentiation. Working closely with the wider marketing teams and other parts of our business such as investment solutions, propositions and distribution, you will design and manage go to market plans for new product launches, as well as supporting changes to existing propositions using the full mix of marketing channels. Using data and insights, and your understanding of the market, you will aim to deliver commercial results that are measurable against our trading units’ targets.
You will be a senior member of the team that creates brand differentiation of retirement solutions through the delivery of creative, thought-provoking and market leading content across multiple media so that our target audiences understand and are interested in learning more about our products and investment solutions.
Key Responsibilities:- Take a leading role in the development of the marketing strategy to promote Standard Life’s credentials in retirement solutions, particularly in the decumulation phase.
- Work with third parties to provide them with any technical or go to market information that they require to promote our product on their platforms.
- Deliver go-to-market campaigns to support our products and propositions.
- Create brand differentiation through the development and delivery of creative, thought-provoking and market leading content and marketing programmes that support our core products and propositions.
- Create engaging retirement solutions sales collateral that helps advisers understand their retirement options in a simple way for their clients.
- Ensure consistency of messaging across all platforms, marketing media and audience channels.
- Ensure collateral reflects our sustainability priorities.
- Create new product and investment marketing communication tools to promote the key aspects of our products and propositions.
- Work with our wider Marketing team to ensure the creation of web pages and promotion through social channels and through video, webinars and events.
- Ensure all marketing initiatives comply with regulatory requirements, Conduct Risk (Customer at the Heart), Consumer Duty and Treating Customers Fairly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal responsibility to ensure that controls you are responsible for are complied with.
- A creative, curious marketing expert with a positive, can-do attitude.
- Strong technical understanding of the retirement solutions market with a clear understanding of the regulatory environment associated with pensions and savings.
- Experience of having worked within a life company, a pensions provider or perhaps a consultancy firm, especially within a dynamic, change environment.
- Highly experienced in developing messaging suitable for both B2B and B2C audiences, with a track record of delivery from idea through to development and implementation.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills with a flair for relationship building, and excellent influencing capability.
