Job Type: 6-month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Edinburgh is our preferred location; however, we are open to any of our UK offices including London, Telford or Birmingham.
Flexible working: All roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. We will discuss what is important to you and balancing this with business requirements during the recruitment process.

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Manager to play a key role in shaping the future of data at Standard Life. This role is critical in modernising our data and reporting estate, supporting the transition from legacy platforms to strategic tools, and ensuring the continued delivery of high quality, reliable data outputs for stakeholders across the organisation.
The role:
- Manage and coordinate delivery activities of a large BI estate, ensuring that development work is prioritised effectively and completed to the required quality, timelines, and architectural standards.
- Identify and drive opportunities for automation and optimisation, ensuring solutions align to data architecture principles and best practice within the strategic data platform.
- Lead and develop a diverse team, supporting capability-building and upskilling aligned to modern data technologies and practices.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across Change, P&S, and IT to prioritise demands, manage supply, and ensure BI capabilities evolve in line with organisational needs.
- Support risk management, governance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives across the BI landscape.
- Support delivery throughout periods of significant organisational or technological change, maintaining operational stability.
What are we looking for?
- Proven experience leading BI, MI, or data delivery teams (including permanent and contingent staff), with a strong track record of coaching and capability development.
- Strong knowledge of organisational BI/reporting tools and technologies such as Power BI, Databricks, SAS, and Cognos Analytics, plus an understanding of the Group’s long‑term BI and data technology roadmap.
- Experience identifying, managing, and mitigating risks within BI delivery or reporting processes; familiarity with the Group Risk Management Framework is beneficial.
- Ability to collaborate and influence effectively across all levels of the organisation, building trusted stakeholder relationships.
- Understanding of the Group’s policy migration strategy—particularly TTP3—with demonstrable experience maintaining operational delivery during major change.
