Hours of work 08.00-16.30 Monday – Thursday and Friday 08.00-13.30

HMP Wayland have a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a management role. Our RecoveryInside prison service provides assessment and psychosocial support for men in custody who have drug and alcohol problems. Through one-to-ones and group sessions, the Phoenix Futures team provide a therapeutic approach to treatment.

The Role

As a Senior Practitioner, you will be managing a small team made up of 2 substance misuse practitioners and our family support worker, as well as delivering services and managing a small caseload of more complex clients. The role is full time 37.5 hours per week, on-site at HMP Wayland.

About You

  • A passion for supporting and nurturing your small team in your management role
  • A desire to contribute to the management team, such as data management and workload management
  • Some management experience or training such as managing volunteers or sessional staff, project lead, supporting managers, management training.
  • Evidence of effective partnership working and the ability to network for the benefit of the client and service
  • To be proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word and familiar with database management systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Relevant experience of working in health and social care, ideally within the field of problematic substance use, mental health or another comparable field
  • A desire to work in collaboration with healthcare, mental health, community agencies and the prison service whilst adhering to security requirements

The Service

HMP Wayland is a Category C Men’s prison located near to Griston in Norfolk. Our services focus on supporting those who have already been sentenced and who want to address their current or past substance misuse issues that have impacted their lives and have led them to prison. We deliver person centred psycho-social interventions on a 1-1 basis and in groups. Support is available after completing a comprehensive assessment and an individual care plan is implemented based on the clients needs and risks.

The Service has around 15 staff and are long-established at Wayland since 2018. There is free parking on-site.
