Phoenix Futures is looking to recruit a passionate and solution-focused Recovery Workers as part of our Lambeth Service. Working in partnership with SLAM, we are increasing our support offer for clients who are wanting to access treatment and support for substance use. You will act as the first point of contact for residents in Lambeth, assessing and engaging our service users into treatment and other community support services by maximising their engagement with community services.
The role will involve working from Lorraine Hewett House. The right candidate will help us shape our psychosocial offering for clients presenting with drug and alcohol issues. This role will be part of the Opiate team specialising in the support for people with a history of opiate use. A good knowledge of the effects of opiates and the related harm reduction interventions are essential. Full training will be given, but prior knowledge around Naloxone and its benefits will also be a big advantage.
Close working with our clinical partners in the consortium will form a key part of the role to support anyone who is currently prescribed OST or discussions with clients about the safety offered by OST prescribing. Existing knowledge about the specific health risks presented by opiate use is essential, especially for those who inject their drugs. Promoting access to the needle exchange and regular reviewing of OST prescriptions will be a key part of the role for the successful applicant working alongside our clinical staff in the consortium.
You will complete assessments with those accessing support and collaboratively develop their care plans with them. You will work closely with other teams in the community and at Lorraine Hewett House to ensure that all relevant support options are discussed and referrals made to appropriate experts and clinicians. You will support the needs of the people in your care with a variety of psychosocial interventions and have access to referral pathways into clinical interventions and mental health support, all within Lorraine Hewett House and the community. The clinical and mental health interventions are delivered by SLAM, our partner in the consortium.
You will build a caseload of people under your care and manage their needs accordingly while they remain in treatment at the consortium. This role is ideal for someone with prior experience of managing a complex caseload to offer substance use treatment in a multi-agency environment. This role is based on a model where you will work 100% of your time on-site at Lorraine Hewett House in Brixton, and the hours of work are 09:00 - 17:00 with a 30-minute lunch break, completing a 37.5-hour week from Monday to Friday. Full training will be given to use the relevant IT systems at the consortium. We use EPJS as the case management system, so any prior experience of using that system will be an advantage. All successful applicants must engage with the DBS vetting checks.
As a Recovery Worker, you will have knowledge of recovery, care planning, and relapse prevention activities and will have the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external agencies. You will have experience of group facilitation. As an individual, we are looking for someone who is self-motivated, can work on their own initiative, but more importantly, as part of a team. You will need good communication and organisational skills. Successful candidates will be dynamic and forward-thinking with keen insight into preventative and early intervention methods. The ideal candidate will have experience working with vulnerable adults presenting with substance, alcohol, and associated issues as well as an understanding of the custodial system.
