We're Europe's largest direct‑to‑consumer flower and gifting business (Bloom & Wild, bloomon and Bergamotte).

Our Tech team builds the software behind the shops, warehouses and delivery.

The P&L squad is hiring a Junior Full Stack Engineer who will spend their time building in the product and learning from experienced engineers.

You can read more about the stack and how we work on our tech blog, Code & Wild.

The Role

You will work across our Ruby backend and our multi‑brand Angular and Type Script frontend, scoping what to build and how with engineers, designers and product managers, and growing your career in a supportive engineering culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Full stack features: Help deliver the squad roadmap by building features across Ruby services and our Angular and Type Script apps, from brief to something a customer can use.
  • Quality in the pages you touch: Accessibility, states, performance, tests and scripts, using the shared design system.
  • Ownership: Take features from ideation through to production release and ongoing maintenance, iterating to validate ideas and learn.
  • Everyday AI: Use authorised coding tools to speed up repetitive work, and check what they produce before it ships.

What We're Looking For

  • Ruby and scripting: Some hands‑on Ruby, a love of scripting, and curiosity about how our platform and APIs work. Personal projects, bootcamps and internships all count.
  • Web fundamentals: Semantic HTML, accessibility, CSS (Flexbox, the Box Model) and modern Java Script. Angular is our stack; Angular, React or Vue experience is a bonus.
  • Growth and teamwork: You want coaching, value diverse and inclusive teams, and care about writing clean, secure code.
  • AI in the workflow: Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude or Cursor, and able to say when you used them and why.

This role would be a good fit for an early‑career engineer, who leans towards backend and wants to grow into full stack.

We hire for potential and different perspectives over an exhaustive checklist.

Perks & Benefits

  • Flexibility: hybrid working plus the option to work from abroad.
  • Time off: 25 days holiday + your birthday + flexible bank holidays (option to buy extra days) + a volunteering day.

  • A 30‑minute interview with our Engineering Manager (the hiring manager for this role)
  • A technical / cultural session where you meet more of the team
  • And a 30‑minute final conversation with our Engineering Director

How to prepare for a job interview at Phoenix Court Group

✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Phoenix Court Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

✨Showcase Your Projects

✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
