Our Mission
Workplace Readiness Training
Our Workplace Readiness Training program is a short-term service focused on developing the personal and social behaviours essential for employment success.
At Phoenix Career Center, we offer a range of comprehensive services designed to empower individuals with economic disadvantages, disabilities, and returning citizens to achieve their vocational goals and gain sustainable employment. Explore our key services below to learn how we can support your journey to career success.
- Work Experience: Our Work Experience Program provides participants with a time-limited opportunity to explore different job roles through observation and tryouts at real employment sites.
- Self Employment Training (SET): Participants will learn how to design business proposals, conduct market research, and access funding opportunities.
- Job Coaching & Transportation: Our Job Coaching service provides intensive, one-on-one support in a competitive work environment, helping participants retain their jobs and succeed in their roles.
- Individual Job Placement Services: We offer a focused approach to locating and securing employment opportunities that align with each participant’s Individualized Plan for Employment (IPE).
- Reverse Job Sourcing: Participants are guided through structured job search activities aimed at finding sustainable employment based on techniques from the book, “Reverse Job Sourcing Guide” by Mo Davis.
This program is ideal for individuals with significant sensory, cognitive, or physical disabilities, as well as those facing mental and behavioural challenges. It is tailored for people who are either entering the workforce for the first time, re-entering after a hiatus, or needing to enhance their workplace skills to secure and maintain employment.
Participants Include:
- Youth aged 14-24 transitioning from school to work.
- Adults aged 25 and older seeking to improve their employability and adapt to workplace expectations.
- Individuals returning citizens.
Workplace Readiness Benefits Who It Serves:

Participants are provided with a Functional Assessment at the start of the program to determine their current skills and identify areas for development. Based on this assessment, an Individualized Instruction Plan (IIP) is created to guide their learning journey, ensuring that each participant receives targeted training aligned with their vocational goals.
